Saving Lives From Above
This one minute video interview features Katherine, a Broken Hill-based nurse employed with the Royal Flying Doctor Service. My focus during the video’s production was to showcase what it’s like to work in the fast-paced environment of the world’s biggest 24-hour emergency service aeromedical organisation. The video was produced using a Canon mirrorless camera, smartphone and Adobe Creative Cloud products.
If you’re Australian, then you’ve more than likely heard of the Flying Doctors – they have a long and rich history synonymous with the Australian outback. There have been countless books published and several fiction drama shows produced based on the real service.

This not-for-profit organisation is a representation of a true Aussie icon. Founded in 1928 by John Flynn in Cloncurry QLD, the service began to expand interstate in the following years. According to the Flying Doctor website, the service provides temporary GP and nurse medical/dental clinics, patient transfers as well as the emergency services it is well known for.
